Donald Saves The Day

The Nintendo 64 version as you would expect is not as cinematic as the PlayStation and most certainly the GameCube and PlayStation 2 versions of the game. The game has the same story of Donald needing to save the day and Daisy Duck. However, it lacks the cutscenes and much of the voice acting as well. The game still gets the story across, but not with the same cinematic flair as the versions that come on a CD or DVD.

The visuals of Donald Duck: Goin' Quackers on the N64 are pretty darn sharp. Say what you will about Disney games, but they always look good and this one here is no different. There are four areas in the game which are Duckie Mountain, Duckberg, Magica’s Manor and Merlock’s Temple. Each area has its own style and a ton of personality which I really like. The game really does capture that Disney magic well and I love how colorful everything is too.

Crash Donaldcoot

The gameplay that we have here is best described as a Disney version of Crash Bandicoot. Hey if you are going to copy a game, Crash Bandicoot is a damn fine game to copy from if you ask me! The game has sections where the camera is behind Donald and also 2.5D sections as well. The game controls well enough and I have no problem with the Nintendo 64 controller in regards to the controls of Donald Duck: Goin' Quackers at all.

Each area has its own selection of levels and boss battles for you to take on. I like the map system the game has and a bit of “challenge” is provided by having collectibles you can find as you progress through the game. I am not going to say that what we have here is a platforming masterpiece or anything like that, but this is still a fun and charming game.

It is the kind of game that is clearly aimed at kids as it is very easy to beat. I really do not see anyone having any trouble getting through this, but at the end of the day, you will still have a fun time.

Overall, I feel that Donald Duck: Goin' Quackers is a fun game. Is it a great game? No, but this is a game that has a lot of Disney charm to it and it is well worth playing through if you are looking for something, quick, fun and covered with some of that Disney magic.
