Backyard Baseball 2001 is a sports game released in 2000 by Humongous Entertainment. The game was released for Macintosh and PC (Windows).
The story of Backyard Baseball is surprisingly simple, but according to many, this is what makes the game so fun and addictive. In Backyard Baseball, the player takes on the role of a manager who has to complete a new team in order to compete against other rivals. After creating a team, the player starts a new season which can consist of 14, 16 or 32 match queues, as well as the Play-Off phase. An important aspect of this game is the fact that the player has four bounce techniques to choose from before each hit, which significantly change the specifics of the ball's flight. A properly selected strategy for each stroke is the key to winning the match and winning the championship. In addition, there is also a 'super power' called 'super-pitch', which a player can only get if he hits a ball played by an opponent with that power exactly. To sum up, Backyard Basketball is an extremely simple but very addictive game that will provide long hours of gameplay not only for children, but also for adult baseball fans.
For the first time ever, Humongous Entertainment brings select Major League Baseball players and the Backyard Kids together in Backyard Baseball 2001. For the ultimate team, pick players such as Cal Ripken Jr., Mark McGwire, and Randy Johnson-as kids. Choose from 30 MLB teams or create a team with customizable colors, playing field, and strategy.
